casa (Central Australia Supported Accommodation) Central Australia Inc. is a community based non-government organisation in the Northern Territory, offering a variety of supported accommodation options that focus on maximising and developing self reliance in accordance with an individual's potential and ability.

casa Central Australia provides a range of living options for people with an intellectual disability. The organisation offers a variety of transitional living options, short term respite placements, training and development within areas specific to client needs and a variety of permanent and independent supported accommodation options for people with an intellectual disability. casa's staff are highly trained in all aspects of the profession and regularly attend staff development training both internally and externally.

About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth, casa Central Australia has an opportunity for a number of enthusiastic, compassionate Residential Support Workers to join their Alice Springs team.

The primary aim of this varied role will be to provide support, skill development and opportunities for personal growth to people with a disability. The overall intention of this support is to provide a way of life and standard of living that resembles that of other citizens in the community, through inclusion as a valued member of the community.

In supporting clients to maintain a safe home-like environment that reflect their individual personality, your duties will include:

  • Participating in all activities that will further enhance and develop individuals' well being and abilities;
  • Providing direct personal care as required;
  • Domestic duties as necessary, including cooking, cleaning, gardening, laundry, mending and shopping;
  • Maintaining the resident's home in a good state of repair;
  • Modelling of social skills and personal image;
  • Assisting with preserving of the client's good health and wellbeing, and supervising taking of medicine; and
  • Initiating and nurturing the client's participation in social and recreational activities, and community life.

If you have experience supporting people with a disability or relevant qualifications, they will be an advantage, but are not essential. casa Central Australia is seeking reliable, honest and highly organised applicants who are able to work independently, as well as effectively contribute as part of a team. These roles will suit people with excellent communication skills, good time management skills and a basic awareness of issues faced by people who have an intellectual disability.

There are a number of Full Time, Part Time and Casual positions available, with flexible hours to suit your lifestyle and commitments, and ensure you maintain a healthy work / life balance.
